Social Media Analysis Data

One key element of the Social Media stratgey is to analyse the main social media platforms utilised by Ukrainains as the basis for a potential strategy that can engage relevant populations on immunization and vaccine issues - access the plan at this link. Work on this has commenced. Attached to this post is the data developed by Anna. Please do review and post any questions, observations or comments. We will update this as new data is produced.

Attached:

1. Facebook - Top 100 Personal Pages

2. VK - Top 100 Personal pages

3. Facebook - Top 100 Public Pages

Will build this list as we go. Please do review and comment, question, observe below)

Warren comment in late September on the data collected at that time

Overall this looks great - some comments:

1. For those who do look relevant, it may be helpful to assess if these people or organisations are likely to be “supportive" or “difficult” relative to polio and routine immunization and vaccines. Of course you will have an instinctive feel for some of these. Would it be a good idea to have a column that provides that initial assessment. The column could be headed, “Possible supporter or possible detractor”? Of course these would be initial judgements and at some stage a group of people would need to go through and assess.

2. One thing that struck me was the number of media folks who are on these lists – 25 on the Facebook personal for example at rough count. The same questions as above apply – in general, supporter or detractor? But, additionally, is there the essence here of a kind of specific media network that could be established?

3. Likewise with bloggers. In the TOP-100 MOST FOLLOWED PERSONAL PAGES ON FACEBOOK IN UKRAINE list for example there are 13 people identified as bloggers. I am wondering what that means in the context of Ukraine? They will certainly need things to write about. How can we engage them?

4. I suppose the same applies to politicians. About 40 % of the top-100 most followed personal pages on Facebook are politicians.

5. It is noticeable that the VKONTAKTE list seems to have a very different quality and feel to it when compared to Facebook. You will all know a lot better than me which Communities are likely to be the best fit – I assume not World of Tanks or zodiac signs! But, maybe some of the others. There do seem a lot of relevant communities (to an outsider) and again the number of media people/orgs is significant – I noted about 12 specific media orgs.

Of course much of above is for later consideration when we get to the action phase.

Just making sure that we have the dialgue between Anna and Anna recorded here - so have copied from email

Anna, thank you for you comments!

You are right, until today I’ve collected data only on the most popular pages on Facebook and Vkontakte. And today I focused on analysing it and identifying if any of those pages/personal accounts are related to health issues/child issues/immunization.

So key findings:

1. No pages related to health issues are among TOP-100 on Vkontake network
2. Among monitored 80 most followed people on Facebook, 2 of them are related to health issues - Olha Bogomolets, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Heath in Ukraine and Evgeny Komarovskiy, well-known pediatrician.
3. After advanced monitoring of 100 most popular community pages on Facebook, I found 2 public pages with theme of motherhood and parental issues (highlighted in document enclosed)

Tomorrow I will finalise collected data and try to specifically look for most popular pages on Vkontakte about health/child health/parents communities.

With best regards!

Sincerely,
Anna Postovoitova

Dear Anna, Warren and Chris,

Thank you very much for this initial piece of research. If I understand correctly, these aren’t health-related pages, but simply most liked pages on Facebook, correct?

If that’s ok, may I have two suggestions?
1)      For the names written in Cyrillic, could you also please add a Latin  transcription?
2)      Could you also please add a very brief description of what these organizations/people are? E.g. left-wing politician or actor or football player etc.

Warren – let me know if you think these suggestions make sense.

Thank you!
Anna
